1. What is Puma FastPay?

Puma FastPay is a Puma Energy smartphone app that allows consumers to pay for gas from their car and without having to go to the cashier. This app is free and available for Android and iPhone devices.

  2. What happens if I pay an amount of money and fill the tank with a smaller amount?

In that case our system does an automatic refund. It will be credited to the card you paid with.

Our system processes credit or refund immediately and sends an email to confirm. This credit may take 5-10 business days to be reflected on your statement. The duration of this process is the product of how the financial institutions involved in the transaction work and it is something that we do not control. It would take the same time in any establishment and with any form of payment that handles credit cards.

  3. Where I find answers to other questions?

We have more answers to frequently asked questions on our customer support page. From there you can also contact us to ask anything you want to know about the service and how it works.

  4. There is a "law" prohibiting the use of cell phones at gas stations?

There is no federal, state, or municipal law prohibiting the use of cell phones at gas stations. There is a reference to the operation of the petrol pump while using the cell phone (Circular Letter 2002). In this Circular Letter the Fire Department prohibited the operation of gasoline pumps while using the cell phone and imposed a fine on those who did not comply with this code. However, this regulation (not the law) ceased to be in effect a few years later when the code was replaced.

  5. What is the Fire Department's view on the use of cell phones in gas stations?

We asked the Puerto Rico Fire Department for an opinion, who determine the safety rules at the stations, and they informed us: "The use of these devices does not pose a risk to the safety of people or property. The Fire Department does not object to the use of these devices in such facilities."

  6. I can be fined if I use my cell phone at the gas station?

No. It is clear from our legal assessment prior to the launch of Puma FastPay that there is no local or federal law that includes any fine for the use of mobile devices in petrol garages. So you can't be fined.

Those who in the past imposed fines (The Fire Department) no longer do so and express themselves positively about this project.

  7. What are the participating stations in Puma FastPay?

You can find the updated list of participating stations in the application. You will also find the cost of gasoline by station and a map to locate it. We will be adding and publishing new stations every week.

  8. What payment methods do you accept?

We accept debit or credit cards with the Visa, MasterCard or American Express logo.

  9. Do you accept ATH?

No. The reason for not having PIN debit cards is because the cell phone is not a PIN input device for PCI security purposes. You can use a debit card that has a Visa, MasterCard, or American Express logo. Soon we'll be offering other payment methods within the app.

  10. Do you accept U.S. cards?

Yes, you can use any card that has a Visa, MasterCard or American Express logo. If you have trouble adding the card, let us know by sending a message on our customer support page.

  11. How safe it is to use Puma FastPay?

Security is one of our top priorities. All credit card information is stored in an electronic vault that complies with PCI security standards.

All app communications with our servers are encrypted using SSL/TLS, the same level of security used by all banks. Our system doesn't have access to any credit card information, that information is transferred from vault to vault without us being able to see it. Our system only saves a reference number to the cards that only serves to pay within the application and only when the user authorizes us.

  12. My information is secure in Puma FastPay?

Yes, your information is secure in Puma FastPay. We use the same level of security that all banks use. All credit card information is stored in an electronic vault that complies with PCI security standards. In addition, Puma FastPay has passcode and Apple TouchID to authorize all purchases. This protects you if your phone is stolen.

  13. Can I use Apple TouchID on Puma FastPay?

Yes, our app is enabled to work with Apple TouchID.

  14. How much it costs to use the service?

Puma FastPay is totally FREE for consumers. The app is free to download and there is no service charge. You pay the same price you would pay for gas using any other form of payment. The price of gasoline with our app is the same as shown at the station.

  15. There's a tax on my gas purchase?

Gasoline has the taxes included in the price shown at the station. There is no additional transaction fees for consumers.

  16. Gasoline pays for IVU?

No. Gasoline does not pay for IVU and therefore we do not charge it. However, it is a law requirement to issue an IVU Loto ticket for each transaction. There is no additional charge for using Puma FastPay; you'll always pay the price the station provides.

  17. Once I pay for gas with Puma FastPay; who fills my tank?

The app allows you to pay for gas without getting out of your car. To fill your tank you must do it yourself. :)

  18. How Puma FastPay affects sales at stations?

We studied over 80 million gas station transactions and saw that the vast majority are not mixed. A mixed transaction is one that includes gasoline and some items from the store. The other thing we saw is that most of the joint ventures are gas and cigarettes. There is very little evidence to support the theory that people buy things on impulse when they go to buy gasoline.

The data tells us that they buy gasoline or buy items from the store but very few do both.

  19. I am a retailer and would like to accept Puma FastPay at my station. What do I do?

Write to us at [email protected] or call 1-855-912-3073.

  20. How Puma FastPay compares to Pay at the pump solutions?

Mobile app payments are inherently more secure than physical credit card payments. Since you never expose your card to a magnetic stripe reader you are never subject to credit card skimmers.

  21. Where I can report bugs?

To report bugs in the app you can do so by visiting the customer support page.

    Security:
